Dragon Eggs
These eggs are a heavily used prop within the medieval room and were designed to have a heavy hand feel without being difficult to move for small guests
Design
The design of the eggs was initially to be based on those from a dragon heavy television show. I offered a design that was unique to our rooms and fit easily with the storyline within the puzzles, and would excite guests.
The egg is made of two halves and the design was created in three thin sections of Apoxie Sculpt that encase the two halves for a durable shell.
The top half for each egg was made by filling an egg-adjacently shaped glass dome with expanding foam, water and mold release was sprayed in the glass mold to accelerate the curing process, the foam off-gassed outside as the next one was being worked on.
The bottom portion of each egg contained an RFID disc inset into wooden circles in a series of larger sizes, stacked and glued together. the profile of each stack was filled out initially with scrap EVA foam and then cast in a damp glass dish with expanding foam.
